Sri Lanka Police says that investigations have not said that suicide as the cause of the death of famed businessman Dinesh Schaffter.
There were several newspaper reports during the weekend claiming CID has confirmed that Dinesh Schaffter died by Suicide.
Denying the media reports, Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that there are no report from investigators suggesting it’s a suicide.
Statements have been recorded from nearly 175 people thus far connection to the homicide, while almost 14 case items have also been sent to the Government Analysts for further analysis.
Moreover, Police Spokesperson explained that while in-depth investigations are underway pertaining to the matter, with data including phone and bank records being collected, no suspects or the exact cause of death has been ascertained yet.
The 52-year-old businessman was found tied up in the driving seat of his car at the Borella cemetery on 15 December 2022, and later died while receiving treatment at the ICU of the National Hospital in Colombo. (Newswire)
