Today’s power cut : New update

The Ceylon Electricity Board has given an undertaking to Supreme Court not to impose power cuts till Court supports the case filed by the Human Rights Commission on the Electricity issue

The case will be taken up tomorrow (03 February).

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka had filed a Contempt of Court case with the Supreme Court against the Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy, Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board, and the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

The Human Rights Commission says that the Secretary to the Ministry of Power and Energy, Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board, and the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation have failed to abide by the settlement arrived at before the commission with regard to the continuous supply of power during the period pertaining to the Advanced Level Examination commencing from 23rd January to 17th February 2023.
