A 29-year-old individual who had defrauded the public under the guise of providing Indian visas via a fake website has been arrested in the Wattegama area in Kandy by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).
The Police stated that the suspect had created a website using information from the Colombo India Visa Office branch office located in the Gopallawa Mawatha area in Kandy and had engaged in the fraudulent business over some time.
The suspect who is a resident of the Panwila area was arrested yesterday (29) along with a laptop and a mobile phone.
He has been remanded until 07th April 2023 after being produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The Colombo Crimes Division is conducting investigations into the matter. (NewsWire)
