WhatsApp is ever-evolving, and the company is working on rolling out a bunch of new features in the coming months. These updates come from WAbetainfo, which tracks all the latest developments of WhatsApp. In a bid to make things more immersive, and feature-rich the messaging app will soon allow you to edit messages, pin a specific message on the chat, and more. While some of these features are already available on apps like Telegram, they’ll be a welcome addition for WhatsApp users.

Edit messages

You’ll soon be able to easily correct mistakes or add more info to specific messages without deleting them. The company is expected to provide you a 15-second window to edit sent messages.

If you edit a message, it will be marked with an “edited” label within its bubble. As someone who makes a lot of typos, I’m looking forward to WhatsApp allowing me to edit messages after sending them.

Pin messages

This is another feature that other messaging apps like Telegram have had for years. WhatsApp will soon allow you to pin messages within a chat window. This will work in group as well as personal chats.

Pinning a message will let you access that particular message faster. The app will display a small icon on the chat bubble indicating that the message is pinned.

15 duration options for disappearing messages

WhatsApp will soon rollout new durations are in addition to the existing ones in disappearing messages. It will allow you to choose from 1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, 5 days, 6 days, 14 days, 21 days, 30 days, 60 days, 180 days, and 1 year.

The shorter, hourly durations can be useful for sensitive and confidential messages, while the longer ones will let you clear messages to not hamper storage in the longer run.

View once for audio

Like view once pictures, you’ll soon be able to send view once audio. These messages will be playable only once. If you send a lot of sensitive audio or don’t trust the receiver, this could be a useful feature.

Faster WhatsApp Windows app

This has already started rolling out last week. The company has rolled out a new app for WhatsApp on Windows. You can now add up to 32 people on video calls – letting you utilize the big laptop screens. The app is now faster as well.

WhatsApp is expected to roll out these improvements for the stable app soon, while also working on more features. (Forbes)
