Opposition MP Dr. Harsha de Silva has responded to a local media report hinting at his possible crossover to the government.

Commenting on the front page news report, Dr. Harsha de Silva said “Looks like the @Dailymirror_SL knows more about my life than myself.”

The Daily Mirror had reported that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa was losing control over his party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and that several party members such as Harsha de Silva, Eran Wickremeratne, and Kabeer Hashim are set to cross over to the government.

In a Twitter message, MP Harsha de Silva pointed out that the news report in full is pure conjecture.

He further acknowledged that he had earlier said that reforms are essential and the current Sri Lanka plan with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is similar to the opposition’s Blueprint, except for their total lack of focus on social safety nets.

“Unlike the current plan, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s Blueprint calls for strong anti-corruption and governance structures. This is the very foundation,” he said.

MP Harsha de Silva further stated that the IMF needs to ensure this government not only brings in stronger legislation but implements what is there, which is fundamental. (NewsWire)
