The Department of Meteorology says showers are expected in several areas of Sri Lanka in the afternoon or night today.
Fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-Central provinces and the Trincomalee, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts.
Meanwhile, the coastal areas from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle will experience showers or thundershowers in the morning as well.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
