The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers are expected in various parts of Sri Lanka today.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Central, Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Polonnaruwa district during the evening or night.
Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Eastern and Uva provinces.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds will be south-westerly over the sea area around the island and the speed will be 20-30 kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
