Nugegoda City underground electricity cabling project was connected to the grid yesterday.
The project implemented by LECO is the first such project constructed in Sri Lanka after the Colombo City & Galle Fort underground cabling projects implemented during the British rule in 1930’s.
Underground cabling will prevent breakdowns due to road accidents, inclement weather, improve safety, improve the quality of electricity supply & will be easier to maintain.
An event of appreciation was held to thank the officials & stakeholders that was involved in the project.
Negambo town will be the next underground cabling project of LECO.
