Sri Lanka wins silver in Asian Games Women’s Cricket Competition

Sri Lanka’s Women’s cricket team has won silver in the Asian Games Women’s Cricket Competition in Hangzhou, China.

Sri Lanka Women missed out on Gold as India beat Sri Lanka by 19 runs in the final today. 

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, India women posted 116 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues top scored for India with 46 and 42 runs, respectively.

Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari, and Inoka Ranaweera were the chief destroyers for Sri Lanka bagging two wickets each.

Chasing a target of 117 runs, Sri Lanka only managed to score 97 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, falling short of 19 runs.

Hasini Perera, Nilakshi de Silva and Oshadi Ranasinghe top scored for Sri Lanka with 25, 23, and 19 runs, respectively.

Titus Sadhu and Rajeshwari Gayakwad were the chief destroyers for India picking up 3 and 2 wickets, respectively, while Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, and Devika Vaidya bagged one wicket each.

India Women secured Gold after winning the Asian Games Women’s Cricket Competition, with Sri Lanka Women snatching Silver and Bangladesh bronze. (NewsWire)
