World Cup : Update on Kusal Mendis

Sri Lanka Vice Captain Kusal Mendis has recovered from his health situation and is fit for the upcoming ICC World Cup match against Australia, a senior Sri Lanka cricket team official told NewsWire.

Mendis suffered from cramps and breathing difficulties after his magnificent century in the last game against Pakistan prompting authorities to immediately transfer him to a hospital.

According to team sources, the Sri Lankan Vice Captain has recovered from the health issues and is deemed fully fit to play.

With the Sri Lankan team having arrived in Lucknow for the next two matches, they have a five-day break prior to the next game.

Sri Lanka will take on Australia on October 16 and the Netherlands on October 21 in Lucknow.

Sri Lanka will recommence practice on October 14 for the upcoming matches, with focus first on the game against Australia. (NewsWire)
