The Ministry of Justice has taken steps to award the position of Justice of the Peace to Sri Lankan artists, under a concept introduced by Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs & Constitutional Reforms Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
Accordingly, 120 artists who have contributed their skills and creativity to the advancement of local art were awarded Justice of the Peace appointments under the first phase of the program.
The event took place at the premises of the Ministry of Justice today (Nov 10) under the aegis of Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs & Constitutional Reforms Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
The title of Justice of the Peace was awarded to veteran artists in the fields of cinema, stage, television, tele-drama, music, singing, songwriting, etc., covering the entire island.
The group was briefed on the purpose of awarding Justice of the Peace titles to artists and its history, as well as the role of a Justice of the Peace. (NewsWire)
