The Attorney General has raised objections against the bail application filed on behalf of former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at the Colombo High Court, it was reported.

The former Minister and ten others are currently in remand custody until March 28, 2024, over the alleged importation of substandard Immunoglobulin vaccines, while Rambukwella has been denied bail on multiple occasions.

Filing a revision petition at the Colombo High Court, Rambukwella’s daughter Chaminthri Rambukwella has requested that her father be released on bail conditions the court deems fit.

Raising preliminary objections to the bail application, Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama representing the Attorney General informed the court that the petitioner has failed to disclose all material facts to the court including Magistrate’s court proceedings dated February 29, 2024.

President’s Counsel Anuja Premaratne, appearing for the petitioner, informed the Court that they had applied for a certified copy from the Magistrate’s court, and they were yet to receive the documents.

Taking into consideration the facts, High Court Judge Sujeewa Nissanka on Monday fixed the hearing regarding the Attorney General’s preliminary objections to April 03, 2024. (NewsWire)
