Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has donated a side practice wicket for Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya in Colombo to commence hardball cricket.
According to an SLC statement, the wicket was declared open recently with the school planning to play U15 and U19 cricket.
Principal of the school, Dr. J. Sumedha Jayaweera thanked Sri Lanka Cricket for helping the school start playing the sport of cricket.
The captain of the school U19 team, Methmi Adithya said they are happy that the school got a practice wicket and will use it to build a good team, and that the girls also aim to represent the national team in the future.
