April 24, 2024 at 4:33 PM

PEDAL, which stands for Polio and Environmental Drive and Awareness Launch, represents an innovative collaboration between the Interactors of Kandy, the Rotary Club of Kandy, and the Rotaract Club of Kandy. Continuing their efforts to raise awareness about polio, PEDAL is a bicycle ride aimed at spreading awareness about this life-threatening disease and raising funds to support present-day polio patients. Additionally, the project aims to raise funds to plant one million trees across the island, promoting eco-friendly transportation and empowering professions associated with bicycles.

From the 22nd to the 26th of April, PEDAL will embark on its journey from Jaffna, traversing the northern countryside and passing through historic cities such as Anuradhapura and Kandy before concluding its journey in the suburbs of Colombo.

During the journey, information about polio will be disseminated, and support will be gathered for the project’s tree-planting initiative. Lumala (Pvt) Ltd. proudly serves as the official transportation partner, endorsing the use of E-Bikes for a cleaner environment. Every participant in this noble cause will contribute towards the goal of planting one million trees island-wide alongside polio awareness, supporting the commendable initiative of the Rotary District 3220, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
