Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga has been arrested on allegations of assault.
According to the Police, Udayanga Weeratunga was arrested by the Mirihana Police today.
He has been arrested on allegations of assaulting a neighbour.
The Police said the Mirihana Police had received a complaint yesterday with regard to the assault.
Based on investigations conducted into the complaint, Udayanga Weeratunga was taken into Police custody this morning. (Newswire)
