Afghanistan opened its Asia Cup campaign with a commanding 94-run victory over Hong Kong in the first T20 international on Tuesday.
Afghanistan posted 188 for six after being sent in to bat. Azmatullah Omarzai led the charge with a blistering half-century, reaching 50 off just 20 balls to record the fastest T20I fifty for Afghanistan. Sediqullah Atal provided stability with another fifty as the two set up a strong total.
In reply, Hong Kong faltered early when Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed Anshuman Rath with the second ball of the innings. The Afghan attack maintained pressure throughout, with Gulbadin Naib and others chipping in as Hong Kong was restricted to 94 all out in 20 overs.
The result gave Afghanistan a flying start in Group B, while Hong Kong was left searching for answers after a lackluster batting display.
