In a rare move, Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood has been appointed as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Consultant of International Cricket.
The PCB confirmed the appointment on Friday, noting that Masood will advise on cricketing strategies and international relations while continuing his duties as the national team’s red-ball skipper.
The development has drawn attention for its unusual nature, as the country’s current Test captain has now been elevated to a position within the board’s administrative structure.
Masood, who succeeded Babar Azam as Test captain in late 2023.
The PCB has not clarified whether Masood’s consultancy role will extend to player selection or policy decisions, but insiders describe it as an advisory position aimed at strengthening international cricket relations.
