Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa requested Russia’s support to rebuild livelihoods, restore the damaged railway and road systems, and rehabilitate infrastructure affected by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.

The request was made during a special meeting between the Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Levan Dzhagaryan, and MP Sajith Premadasa at the Opposition Leader’s office in Colombo today.

During the meeting, MP Premadasa explained to the Russian Ambassador the challenges faced by people affected by Cyclone Ditwah, and requested support to rebuild livelihoods of the disaster‑affected people.

He also conveyed, on behalf of the people of Sri Lanka, gratitude for the assistance already extended by the Russian government during this difficult time.

MP Premadasa further emphasized the importance of strengthening long‑standing trade cooperation between the two countries, noting that such ties would provide vital support for Sri Lanka’s recovery. (Newswire)
