A cricketer for Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) Blues has had his registration “permanently” cancelled over allegations he sent nude photos of himself to young players at his Sydney grade club.
The cricketer, who can’t be named legally, has been banned following an emergency meeting by the Cricket NSW board.
“After being made aware of a serious complaint, the Cricket NSW Board determined to permanently cancel a player’s registration effective immediately,” a Cricket NSW statement read.
“As a result, he is suspended indefinitely from involvement in all cricket-related matters.
“We cannot comment further on this matter while investigations are ongoing.”
The banned cricketer has played Sheffield Shield for the Blues and featured in the Big Bash League.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that one victim made a complaint to the club over the inappropriate photographs, and there are allegations from more than one cricketer.
A spokesperson from the Sydney club told the masthead: “The club is aware of the allegations and reported the matter to Cricket NSW’s Integrity Unit as soon as we were made aware.
“The player has been suspended from all club activities while investigations by the relevant authorities are ongoing.” (News.com.au)
