President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has requested public servants to grant the government a short period to resolve existing issues related to allowances, stating that a review is currently underway.

He noted that the third phase of the salary increment is scheduled for 2027, and that the government will consider providing other allowances to public servants thereafter.

The President made these remarks while addressing the Nuwara Eliya District programme of the “Ratama Ekata” national initiative.

During his address, President Dissanayake emphasized that steps are being taken to ensure a satisfactory standard of living for public servants.

Commenting on the recent disaster situation, he stated that Rs. 500 billion has been allocated from the Treasury to mitigate the damage caused to the country. He stressed that no loans were obtained and no money was printed to secure these funds.

The President further noted that the Treasury had Rs. 1,200 billion in its accounts at the time, which enabled the allocation of the Rs. 500 billion. (NewsWire)
