Special traffic plan in Colombo for SL–NZ T20 World Cup clash

A special traffic plan will be in effect in Colombo for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, scheduled at 7.00 pm at the R. Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo today. 

According to the Police, large crowds of local and foreign spectators are expected to attend the cricket match.

As such, the Colombo Traffic Division has announced the following traffic arrangements:

Restricted Entry Routes to the Stadium

  • Vinson Perera Mawatha (Grandpass Road), from Britto Babapulle Bridge junction towards Babapulle.
  • Entry near Babapulle Bridge towards the stadium.
  • Sebastian Canal Road, near Malwatta Bridge, towards the stadium.
  • 100 Feet Road, from the Pansala Road junction towards the stadium.
  • Maligawatta Lane, via by‑roads near the stadium.
  • Saddharma Mawatha, from Pansala Road (Bakheththaram Road) junction towards Pansala Road.

Parking Facilities  

In addition to parking around the R. Premadasa Stadium, facilities will be available at Grandpass Matti Park, Sathosa parking, Sebastian Canal parking, Kovil Road, Apple Watte, and both sides of 100 Feet Road.

Security Measures  

Police officers and plain‑clothes intelligence personnel will be deployed for spectator safety. Bringing large bags, glass bottles, drones, sharp objects, narcotics, or alcohol is strictly prohibited.

CCTV monitoring, body checks, and vehicle inspections will be carried out before the match begins.
