The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has introduced a new programme aimed at promoting energy conservation within schools, alongside issuing a circular to support its implementation.
The initiative, titled “Surakimu Lanka” school energy conservation program, is being implemented under the theme “Save Energy Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” to foster a culture of energy conservation across the school system while promoting energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and responsible usage practices among students and school communities.
Schools are required to implement the programme before the end of the first school term.
In cases where this is not practically feasible, principals and school authorities have been advised to select a suitable alternative date for its implementation. (NewsWire)
