A 25-year-old man was arrested by officers of the Police Special Task Force (STF) for allegedly carrying a plastic pistol among a crowd during a May Day rally held near the Kilinochchi Depot Junction on May 1.
The suspect was later handed over to the Sri Lanka Police station in Kilinochchi for further investigations.
Police said investigations revealed that the pistol-shaped object was a plastic replica and could not be used to fire shots.
The suspect is a resident of the Kilinochchi area. (Newswire)
