Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and IPG Group (IPG), say they expect strong international participation for the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) after opening the online registration portal for overseas players on Friday (08).

The registration portal, accessible through www.srilankacricket.lk, will remain open until May 20, 2026.

Leading players from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, New Zealand, the West Indies and Australia have already expressed interest in participating in the tournament.

SLC says that efforts are underway to expand the player base by attracting talent from emerging and associate cricket nations including Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe, Nepal, the United States, Oman, Italy, Namibia and the Netherlands.

“We are absolutely delighted with the interest and enquiries from top cricketers across all cricket-playing nations who want to play in Season 6 of the LPL,” LPL Tournament Director Samantha Dodanwela said.

“The overwhelming response from players clearly underlines the growing status of the LPL,” he added.

Each franchise will be allowed to include two international marquee players and two Sri Lankan marquee players for the 2026 season.

The pre-signed player list is expected to be announced next week. (Newswire)
