President meets CHEC Delegation, discusses Port City development plans

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Chairman of China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) Bai Yinzhan and a company delegation at the Presidential Secretariat on Friday.

During the meeting, Bai said the President’s leadership had strengthened the company’s confidence in investing in Sri Lanka. He also welcomed the incentives provided for the Port City Colombo Special Economic Zone and noted the economic stability achieved in the country.

President Dissanayake said foreign direct investment (FDI) remains a key driver of economic growth and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to facilitating and supporting investors.

He said the Government had secured a degree of policy stability through agreements reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and was working to create a more investor-friendly environment. The President added that the Government would continue to support investments that contribute to national development and economic prosperity.

The President also outlined plans to develop Port City Colombo into a modern economic zone capable of attracting significant international investment.

During the discussion, President Dissanayake expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by CHEC to communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha Fernando, Commissioner General of Essential Services and Chief of Presidential Staff Prabath Chandrakeerthi, CHEC General Manager Su Bo, and other company representatives. (Newswire)
