Sri Lanka fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana has successfully undergone surgery to treat a left biceps femoris hamstring injury and has begun his recovery process in France.
Confirming the development, Pathirana’s manager, Amila Kalugalage, said the surgery was successful and that the fast bowler is now focused on rehabilitation.
“Matheesha has successfully undergone a left biceps femoris open surgical hamstring repair and has now begun the road to recovery in France. We are grateful to Sri Lanka Cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders for their outstanding support and commitment to his wellbeing throughout this process,” Kalugalage said.
He added that Pathirana remains determined to return stronger.
“He will work hard, stay focused and be back doing what he loves soon. We look forward to seeing him back on the field stronger than ever.”
Pathirana, one of Sri Lanka’s premier fast bowlers, will now undergo rehabilitation before a decision is made on his return to competitive cricket. No timeframe has yet been announced for his comeback. (Newswire)
