Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has been named as the fourth accused in a case before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with the controversial Krrish deal. The case is being pursued by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over alleged financial irregularities and bribery involving the Indian property development company Krrish.
Sajith calls for successor IMF deal after current programme ends in 2027
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called on the Government to pursue a successor agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after the current programme concludes in 2027. He argued that any future arrangement should focus on reducing poverty, promoting exports and easing the economic burden on Sri Lanka’s 22 million people. Premadasa made the remarks in a special statement following comments by Minister Bimal Rathnayake that the Government intends to conclude the current IMF programme when the four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) expires in March 2027.
