Alliance Finance Company PLC (AFC), Sri Lanka’s pioneering triple bottom-line financial institution, has been recognised as the Runner-up in the Other Financial Services Category at the prestigious ACCA Sri Lanka Sustainability Reporting Awards 2024/25.

According to the official Judges’ Report, AFC’s recognition was attributed to the issuance of Sri Lanka’s Green Bond and the dual listing of its Green Bond on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and the Luxembourg Green Exchange, reflecting strong alignment and compliance with global sustainability frameworks. The Judges further noted that the allocation of 8% of Profit After Tax (PAT) towards sustainability initiatives demonstrates a strong commitment to ESG, a commitment that is consistently reflected throughout the Company’s report.

The ACCA Sri Lanka Sustainability Reporting Awards, now in its 21st year, recognise organisations that demonstrate excellence in sustainability reporting, transparency, governance, and strategic integration of ESG principles. The awards serve as a national benchmark for responsible corporate disclosure and forward-looking sustainability leadership.

AFC’s Integrated Annual Report was commended within a competitive field of financial institutions, highlighting the Company’s ability to bridge local impact with global capital markets. The dual international listing of its Green Bond reinforces AFC’s credibility among global investors while positioning Sri Lanka’s sustainable finance narrative on an international platform.

Sustainability at AFC is not treated as a parallel initiative but embedded as a core strategic pillar. Having formally adopted the Triple Bottom Line philosophy of People, Planet and Profit in the year 2012 – well ahead of regulatory mandates – the Company continues to integrate financial performance with measurable social and environmental outcomes. The structured allocation of 8% of PAT toward sustainability initiatives reflects institutionalised commitment rather than symbolic positioning.

Founded in 1956, Alliance Finance Company PLC stands as Sri Lanka’s oldest Non-Bank Financial Institution, built on enduring values of “others before self” and “earn before you spend.” Now in its 70th year, AFC has evolved as the lead architect of sustainable finance in Sri Lanka, combining stability, innovation, and purpose-driven growth.

Being named Runner-up in the Other Financial Services Category at the ACCA Sri Lanka Sustainability Reporting Awards 2024/25 reaffirms AFC’s strong and unwavering commitment to credible transparency, disciplined ESG integration, and its broader purpose of making the world a better place through sustainable finance.
