The Sri Lanka Navy conducted its traditional 25-gun salute in honor of the nation’s 78th Independence Day.
The salute was carried out from the Sri Lanka Navy ship SLNS Sayura, stationed off Galle Face Green, under the direction of the Commander of the Navy.
A 25-gun salute—the highest number of rounds in a ceremonial salute—is performed as a mark of national tribute.
The official Independence Day ceremony was held at Independence Square in Colombo earlier today, with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake presiding. (Newswire)
