Applications open for Homagama housing scheme for journalists

The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has called for applications from journalists for the “Homagama Journalists’ Housing Scheme”.

The housing programme is being implemented for journalists serving in print, electronic and online media institutions.

According to the Ministry, applicants must be permanent residents of Sri Lanka and should not own a house or land suitable for constructing a house. Applicants should also have completed at least 10 years of service in the media sector.

Under the scheme, 27 housing units of approximately 500 square feet each will be made available, while applicants should be between 30 and 60 years of age.

The Ministry said selections would be made based on stipulated criteria, including professional experience and other relevant qualifications.

Applications for the 2026 scheme can be downloaded from the Ministry of Health and Mass Media’s official website, www.media.gov.lk, from August 18.

Completed applications should be sent by registered post to the Secretary, Ministry of Health and Mass Media, No. 163, “Asidisi Medura”, Kirulapone Mawatha, Polhengoda, Colombo 05.
