President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today responded sharply to comments made by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, who recently remarked that “even a Montessori child” could achieve the government’s current revenue performance.
Speaking at a public event, the President said Sri Lanka has for the first time in its history exceeded revenue expectations, and dismissed the Opposition Leader’s statement as an attempt to downplay a significant fiscal milestone.
“I wondered why he said it,” the President said. “He didn’t say it for any other reason. What he was really trying to suggest is that even he could do it. By saying a preschool child can achieve this, he is only trying to show that he too is capable.” (Newswire)
