An Islamic priest who had conducted religious activities for the recent Joint Opposition rally in Nugegoda has claimed receiving threats for his participation.
The Moulavi filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday, in this regard.
Speaking to the media, the Moulavi said he had been invited to conduct religious activities for the event and had attended for this purpose.
“From November 21st evening, I started receiving threats via the telephone and on social media, especially Facebook and YouTube. People were questioning why I conducted religious activities for this group and who invited me. They also threatened that they will deal with me if I continue to engage with the group,” he added.
