The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory for severe lightning for 7 districts.
Issuing a red alert to the districts, the department said the weather advisory is effective until 11.00 pm today (25).
Thereby, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Uva and Eastern provinces, and in the Mullaitivu district.
The department added that there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity. (NewsWire)
