
The Sri Lanka Police has formulated several plans for the protection of the public during the upcoming April New Year festive season.
Police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that various plans have been made to prevent the public from falling victim to fraudulent activities.
The following are a few instructions given to the public by the Police during the upcoming festive season:
- The public has been requested to inspect if goods are fit for consumption when making purchases.
- People are requested to be vigilant of the general price of goods and not fall victim to exorbitant pricing.
- The public has been warned to be vigilant of the circulation of fake currency notes by retailers as well as consumers.
- People are requested to be vigilant of pickpockets in crowded areas and have been requested to keep their personal belongings safe in such areas.
- The public has been advised to refrain from adorning children with gold jewellery if the child is taken along for shopping activities.
- Senior citizens have been requested to wear facemasks for their safety and health reasons when engaging in shopping activities.
- Those using their personal vehicles and motorcycles for shopping activities have been advised to ensure that the vehicles are locked properly when left in the designated parking areas.
- People have been requested not to leave their helmets or any belongings in parked motorcycles during the festive season.
- The public travelling far from home for shopping activities has been requested not to share such information on social media or publicize it.
- People engaging in tours have been requested to observe the weather conditions and to refrain from engaging in risky activities such as bathing in unsafe waterfalls.
- The Police will conduct special operations to apprehend those driving under the influence of alcohol during the festive season. (NewsWire)
