Two officers of the Alawathugoda Agrarian Service Centre have been arrested for having solicited a bribe of Rs. 100,000.
According to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, the two officials solicited the bribe to issue a reclamation certificate for paddy land.
The Bribery Commission stated that the two suspects were arrested following a complaint filed by a resident of Alawathugoda.
The Complainant had informed the Bribery Commission that he had paid Rs. 100,000 to obtain a reclamation certificate for a paddy land adjoining his residence in the Malgamandeniya area.
The two officers of the Alawathugoda Agrarian Service Centre were apprehended while accepting the bribe.
The Briber Commission stated that the suspects will be produced before the Matale Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
