Two Sri Lankan nationals have been apprehended at the Katunayake Airport for smuggling in a large stock of smartphones, alongside a stock of foreign cigarettes.
According to Customs sources, the smartphones are valued at nearly Rs. 100 million.
The suspects had been detected after they had attempted to use the ‘Green Channel’, which is for passengers with nothing to declare.
The two men, residents of Grandpass, are reported to have arrived from Dubai today. (Newswire)
