
The Sri Lanka Air Force has granted a special promotion to Dulith Dassanayake, who secured a gold medal and established a new world record at the 13th World Strength Lifting Championship held in Kyrgyzstan.
In recognition of his outstanding international sporting achievement, Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, has approved Dassanayake’s promotion from the rank of Corporal to Sergeant.
Dassanayake represented Sri Lanka in the Under 95 kg weight category of the Hack Lift event at the championship, where he successfully lifted 260 kg, securing the gold medal while setting a new world record.
According to the Sri Lanka Air Force, his achievement brought international recognition to both Sri Lanka and the Air Force.
To honour his performance, a special felicitation and appreciation ceremony was held today (01) at Air Force Headquarters.
During the ceremony, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe also presented a special financial reward to the newly promoted Sergeant Dulith Dassanayake in recognition of his achievement on the international stage. (Newswire)
