
At the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, a meeting between the President and representatives of the School Development Officers’ Association was held this morning (03) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The representatives clarified that the responsibility for this issue does not lie with the current government or themselves, however, as professionals, they are presently confronted with a range of professional and social challenges.
The President, who participated in a lengthy discussion on this issue, stated that it is the government’s objective to protect the professional pride and dignity of all those involved.
The President further stated that it is the government’s expectation to integrate degree-holding professionals with teaching experience into the teaching service and accordingly, he invited them to sit for the examination in accordance with the Sri Lanka Teachers Service Minute.
The discussion was also attended by Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Kapila Janaka Bandara, Director General of Public Relations at the Presidential Secretariat, Dharmasiri Gamage, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, including Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa.
