US President Donald Trump has announced an extension of the ceasefire on Iran, citing a request from Pakistan’s military chief Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In a statement, Trump said the decision follows concerns that the government of Iran is “seriously fractured” and requires time for its leaders to present a unified proposal.
He said the United States would be maintaining a blockade and keeping military forces on standby.
The ceasefire will remain in effect until Iranian representatives submit a proposal and discussions are concluded, Trump added. (NewsWire)
