A few showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today (02), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to Galle via Colombo.
Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
