Nationwide initiative to reach 1 million students across 6000 schools
In one of Sri Lanka’s largest menstrual hygiene initiatives for schoolgirls, the Ministry of Education has partnered with Eva Sanitary Napkins for the second consecutive year under the Government’s Thilinapath Project. Expanding on last year’s programme, which reached nearly 1 million students, this year’s initiative aims to provide access to menstrual hygiene products for up to 1 million students across 6000 schools islandwide.
Supporting the Ministry of Education’s efforts under the Thilinapath Project, Eva will supply sanitary napkins and assist with on-ground distribution across schools islandwide, helping expand access to essential menstrual hygiene products for students. The legal agreement between the Ministry of Education and Eva was officially signed on 3 June 2026, and the programme commenced in June 2026.

Over the years, Eva has helped improve access to menstrual hygiene products, expanded awareness and education programmes, and supported hygiene infrastructure in schools. These efforts have included reaching nearly 1 million schoolgirls, engaging over 6,000 schools, introducing sanitary napkin disposal systems, and conducting menstrual hygiene awareness programmes for thousands of students nationwide.
This experience strengthens Eva’s role in supporting the Ministry of Education’s Thilinapath Project, which was launched to improve menstrual hygiene access for students across the country. For many schoolgirls, access to menstrual hygiene products remains essential to managing their periods hygienically and comfortably while continuing their daily school activities.
Following the success of last year’s programme, the Ministry has expanded the initiative for a second consecutive year, extending its reach to up to 1 million students across 6000 schools. This significant scale-up reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to improving menstrual hygiene management for schoolgirls nationwide.
As part of this national initiative, Eva contributes its experience in menstrual hygiene management by supplying sanitary napkins and supporting distribution across schools, helping more schoolgirls access the essential products they need to manage their periods hygienically throughout the school year.
