The Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation launched seven new products identified for 2025 under the patronage of Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa,  yesterday (30 Dec).

Accordingly, the Corporation has further expanded its portfolio by introducing medicinal products such as Kubja Prasarini Oil, Bala Koranda Oil, Panchawalkala Churna, and Bone Marrow Pills, along with herbal products such as Pinda Balm, Rathhadun Body Wash, and Panchawalkala Shampoo.

The Ministry of Health stated that in the distribution process of Ayurvedic medicines, government institutions play a leading role, and based on purchases made by state institutions in 2024, the Corporation was also evaluated.

Speaking at the event, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said the past year was one of laying the foundation for ministries, departments, corporations, and institutions, as well as strengthening the base of the country’s economy, especially in the production sector. He emphasized that without a strong foundation, decorations alone cannot sustain a nation, and the people have already experienced the consequences of weak foundations. He added that once the foundation is strong, further progress can be achieved.

The Minister further noted that the results of strengthening the foundation last year are now being experienced, with the Inland Revenue Department surpassing not only its revenue targets but also its revised targets. He also highlighted that this year recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka. He stressed that with clear goals, the path becomes visible, enabling the country to achieve many more victories.

Minister Jayatissa revealed that the Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation has reported Rs. 1,660 million as its highest revenue so far this year, with potential to reach even higher targets. The Minister added that the stability and credibility achieved by the Corporation should be credited to its Chairperson and all 375 staff members.

He pointed out that the Ayurvedic sector is one that must work for the well-being of the people, with government investment and research, ensuring continuous benefits to the public. He emphasized that a healthy Sri Lanka is the government’s foremost expectation.

The Minister further said that Ayurvedic products should be manufactured in ways that make them easily usable by the public, and while the government focuses on treatment methods, it also prioritizes Ayurvedic products.

At present, the Corporation produces around 194 products and 450 production units, continuing to serve as the pioneer in Ayurvedic medicine manufacturing.

For over 56 years, the Corporation has produced Ayurvedic medicines and herbal products, distributing them to Ayurvedic hospitals, dispensaries, practitioners, and the public across the island, thereby contributing to national healthcare services. (Newswire)
