
Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has held discussions with Tilvin Silva, General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, during a meeting with a JVP delegation from Sri Lanka.
Describing the interaction as warm and constructive, the Indian Foreign Minister said the talks focused on further strengthening the deep ties between India and Sri Lanka, while also exploring opportunities for growth and cooperation in social welfare initiatives.
During the discussions, India reiterated its continued support for Sri Lanka, noting New Delhi’s assistance during the country’s recent economic crisis as well as in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah.
The Minister said India will always remain a true and trusted partner for Sri Lanka, in line with its neighbourhood-first policy and broader regional vision.
The meeting reflects ongoing engagement between India and Sri Lanka across political and social spheres, as both sides continue efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation.
The JVP delegation is currently in New Delhi on an official invitation from the Indian government. (Newswire)
