The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has announced plans to recruit 2,652 employees to strengthen Sri Lanka’s public health service over the next month.

The appointments will cover several categories, including Health Service Assistants (SKS), Public Health Management Assistants, Field Mosquito Control Assistants, and Overseers.

According to the Ministry, the recruitment drive is part of a planned human resource development programme aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of the country’s free public healthcare system while ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of hospital administration and patient care services.

The first batch of 627 Health Service Assistants will receive appointment letters on July 4 at the Tower Hall Theatre in Maradana, under the patronage of Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

The Ministry said a further 600 Health Service Assistants will be appointed on July 18, followed by another 762 on August 1.

In addition, 247 Public Health Management Assistants are scheduled to receive appointments on July 16, while 295 Field Mosquito Control Assistants and 121 Overseers will receive appointment letters on August 1.

The Ministry said the recruits were selected based on merit following recently concluded structured interviews, adding that the recruitment process is intended to address long-standing staff shortages in the health sector through a transparent selection process.
