Two suspects aged 30 and 36 were arrested by the Police in connection with a vehicle sale scam, following a raid in Kadawatha.
The suspects had allegedly obtained multiple vehicles for rent, forged ownership documents for the rented vehicles and then sold them across various locations.
Seized items include a forged temporary driving license, a national identity card, a revenue license, two recently registered number plates, five mobile phones, a three-wheeler, as we well as 23 grams and 650 milligrams of ICE.
The investigation revealed that the suspects used rented vehicles from multiple fuel stations:
- A van rented in Anuradhapura was sold for Rs. 10.4 million.
- A car rented in Borella was sold for Rs. 9 million.
- A car rented in Panadura had its engine and chassis numbers altered before being sold for Rs. 5.8 million.
- A car rented in Moragahahena was sold for Rs. 5 million.
- A car rented in Wellampitiya was sold for Rs. 4.2 million.
The suspects are to be produced before the Mahara Magistrate’s Court. (Newswire)
