The government has declared March 1–7 as National Drug Prevention Week, a key move in a new federal campaign to eradicate the country’s narcotics crisis.
The initiative is part of the “A Nation United” program launched by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to tackle the drug menace.
The Ministry of Public Administration has instructed all state institutions, provincial councils, and local government bodies to prioritize prevention activities during the week.
According to official guidelines, the focus will be on community awareness and engagement to protect the nation’s youth. The directive aims to mobilize all levels of government to secure a drug-free future through education and regional outreach. (Newswire)
