An inmate who was transferred to the Boossa Prison following the unrest at the Negombo Prison has died after falling suddenly ill.
Prisons Department Media Spokesperson A.C. Gajanayake said the inmate was admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital after developing a sudden illness, where he later passed away.
No further details regarding the cause of death have been released. The incident comes in the aftermath of the deadly unrest at the Negombo Prison that resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. (Newswire)
