A Regional Tsunami Simulation Exercise is scheduled to be held on Wednesday (Oct 04), Deputy Speaker of Parliament MP Ajith Rajapakse announced today.
Addressing the Parliament, the Deputy Speaker said the exercise will be held to evaluate the national to village-level Tsunami early warning dissemination mechanisms established in Sri Lanka by the Disaster Management Center.
He further said that it is also being held to test the preparedness level of coastal communities and school children in the Trincomalee, Galle and Matara districts.
The Disaster Management Center is conducting this exercise with the aim to evaluate the national to village-level Tsunami early warning dissemination mechanisms established in Sri Lanka, the Deputy Speaker said.
He added that the Disaster Management Center has requested to inform all Parliamentarians, including MPs representing the coastal districts, in this regard. (NewsWire)
