A suspect wanted for financially defrauding more than Rs. 10 million from the public via overseas job scams in various parts of Sri Lanka has been arrested in Polonnaruwa.
The Police stated that the suspect was arrested by the Polonnaruwa Divisional Crimes Investigation Unit on Sunday (Oct 29).
The suspect has been identified as a 42-year-old resident of Bandaragama.
The Police said 14 complaints have been received against the suspect from the Chillaw, Ganemulla, Welikada, Meegoda, Anamaduwa, Kadawatha, Piliyandala, and Kurunegala areas.
At least 10 warrants have been issued against the suspect by the Panadura Magistrate’s Court, while a warrant has also been issued by the Panadura High Court.
The suspect has been remanded until November 14 after being produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
