A 27-year-old Sri Lankan has become the latest casualty among Sri Lankans fighting for Russia in the war against Ukraine, it was reported.
According to Daily News, the Sri Lankan national, known as Nipuna Silva, had died in a Ukrainian drone attack carried out on a Russian bunker.
Reports state that another Sri Lankan, Senaka Bandara had also sustained injuries while attempting to move the injured Nipuna Silva to a safer place.
“As I was taking Nipuna, there was another massive drone attack near the last bunker. At that time, Nipuna fell to the ground. I had no choice but to leave Nipuna when the Ukrainian drone attacks rained down,” Bandara had said in an audio message sent to foreign media, Al-Jazeera via WhatsApp.
